Rihanna has delighted fans by announcing that her first new music in six years will be released this week.
The song will appear on the soundtrack for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which is set to be released on Friday (28 October).
Marvel announced the news after the official Twitter account shared a video confirming the much-anticipated return of Rihanna.
The short clip shows the film’s title, followed by the letter “R” and the date October 28 2022 beneath it.
Rihanna confirmed the news with an emoji comment on Marvel’s Instagram post.
Fans of the singer have taken to Twitter to express their delight at her return to music.
“Is Rihanna returning to music this Friday with the Black Panther soundtrack?” “The Oscars and Grammys are HERS,” wrote one fan.
“When Rihanna releases new music on Friday, I’m going to be the most unbearable person,” said another.
“We made it everybody after nearly seven years,” wrote another fan.
One tweet read, “I have waited so long for this moment Lord, Rihanna is BACK.”
Since 2016, when she released her Grammy-nominated album Anti, the “Umbrella” singer has been on hiatus from music.
Since then, the 34-year-old has achieved enormous success through her beauty and lingerie brands, Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and Savage x Fenty.
With these ventures making Rihanna a billionaire, many wondered if she would ever return to music.
Rihanna’s musical return comes ahead of her headlining performance at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show in February of next year.
Tems and Kendrick Lamar are among the other artists expected to appear on the Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
On November 11, 2022, the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be released in theaters.
