We’re off to a good start in 2023. The extremely beautiful OnePlus 11 was just reviewed, the Pixel 7 line is still one of our favorites, and now we get to examine Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series.
In case you missed it, Tim already gave the Galaxy S23 Ultra a thorough review and gave it good scores. I’ve been using the Galaxy S23+ for work purposes for a few weeks while I try to determine whether there are any drawbacks to this phone. Simply put: No, it does not.
And with that, be ready for one of the Galaxy S23+ reviews that is the most straightforward you’ll encounter.
Display. Samsung slapped another 6.6″ Dynamic AMOLED display in the Galaxy S23+, as it did with last year’s S22+, and it’s expectedly great. It maxes out at 1080p in resolution with 120Hz refresh rate. You’ll find a peak outdoor brightness of 1,750nit, so it is easy to use when outside. It’s flat, so that’s another bonus, and yeah, there is absolutely nothing to complain about.
At 6.6″, the display is on the large size, leading to a large phone. I’m not here to tell you that large phones are bad, just pointing out that this display means a fun viewing experience when watching video or taking in the photos you recently snapped. It also means that you may struggle to reach all corners with a single hand.I already noted how much brightness there is outside. I should also mention how well the auto-brightness adapts to darker environments. Also, you may swipe the brightness bar one step further to the left to significantly reduce the lights when you’re lying in bed at night. The finest brightness levels continue to be those of Samsung from top to bottom.
The other item I’d want to draw attention to is the peculiar viewing angle discussion point that is frequently brought up. The Galaxy S23+ scarcely exhibits a color shift when seen at an odd angle. The colors on this phone remain vibrant and flawless no matter how you look at it.
