Eighty-fifth minute:According to the FiveThirtyEight forecast, Republicans are in good shape with just five days remaining until Election Day.According to our Deluxe forecast as of Wednesday at 3 p.m. Eastern, if each party won every race they are currently favored to win, Republicans would have 51 seats in the Senate and Democrats would have 49 seats. Additionally, Democrats would win 210 seats and Republicans would win 225 in the House if the same thing occurred.
However, these gains would be insignificant in comparison to midterm elections. In other words, this likely won’t be a “red-wave” election like the ones in 2010 and 2014, when Republicans won nine Senate seats and 63 House seats, respectively.Instead, it appears to be more like a “red ripple.”However, this does not preclude a red wave.
