How to Connect a New Phone to Your Pixel Watch Without Factory Resetting

That’s the quick response, at least. But, you cannot transfer your Google Pixel Watch to a new phone without first doing a factory reset. I wish I could explain the rationale for it to you. I just know that Wear OS has always been this way and that it has been irritating. It irritated me back in 2018 that I had to frequently factory reset my watches, so I wrote about being unable to pair to two phones at once. Even in 2023, with a brand-new version of Wear OS, we are unable to complete such a basic task.

I bring this up today since this query appeared in Google’s earlier sharing of “The Google Pixel Watch Minute” community post. It’s quite simple. You go down in the Pixel Watch app, choose “System,” and then select “Reset and unpair watch.” Your Pixel Watch will restart when you select “Reset” in the pop-up that comes before commencing to perform the factory reset. As soon as it starts to boot, it should say “Erasing.”

You can also choose to factory reset your watch if you choose. Simply navigate to System, tap the Settings button, and select “Disconnect & reset” from the quick settings panel by swiping down. The subsequent page will notify you that a factory reset is about to take place and that you should definitely carry out this action through the Pixel Watch app.
