Following the release of Windows 11 version 22H2, Microsoft declared that, in addition to the yearly Windows feature update in the fall, it would now regularly upgrade the Windows OS with new features. Only one month after 22H2’s release, the first feature drop brought tabs in File Explorer and other upgrades.
The second feature drop for Windows 11 version 22H2, which has been internally finalized and is anticipated to start rolling out in the coming few weeks, is now quickly approaching. This second feature drop, sometimes referred to as “Moment 2” internally, has already undergone several months of testing with Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel.
In truth, Microsoft is preparing to release this upcoming feature drop as the Moment 2 update’s contents have only recently been made available to testers in the Insider Release Preview channel. Below is a list of all the new features and improvements that will be included in the Windows 11 Moment 2 feature drop.
* Tablet-optimized Taskbar
* Modern System Tray flyout
* New Taskbar search bar options
* Search in Task Manager
* Energy recommendations in Settings
* Full-screen Widgets Panel
* Third-party Widget support
* Studio Effects in Quick Settings
* Voice Access enhancements
The Moment 2 feature drop will begin rolling out via Windows Update as part of the March 2023 security release for Windows 11. Users who want access to these new features now can join the Windows Insider Release Preview Channel for early access.
For those that would rather wait, here’s a closer look at some of the bigger changes coming with the Moment 2 update.
