In Ontario, “spring forward” is about to occur.
You can expect to do so this weekend if you’re wondering when you’ll have to adjust your clocks for daylight saving time in 2023.
The time will change on March 12 at 2:00 a.m. The sun will set tomorrow about 7:20 p.m. On Nov. 5, at 2 a.m., the clocks will be turned back one hour to mark the end of daylight saving time.
Usually, the second Sunday in March marks the beginning of daylight saving time and the first Sunday in November marks its conclusion.
DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME WILL IT BE ABOLISHED IN ONTARIO?
The province enacted legislation to end it and implement permanent daylight saving time in 2020.
But the shift won’t happen until Quebec and New York follow suit. Despite the measure having obtained royal assent in 2020, nothing further has done with it since.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford declared in March 2022 that he would “eventually” end the twice-yearly custom.
At a news conference in Barrie, the premier stated, “I think we’ll eventually continue with daylight saving time and simply be like the rest of North America.
